Pre-Production
& Song Development
It's all
about the song! There's no point spending hard-earned money on recording
if the songs aren't up to scratch in the first place. And your songs need to be
up to scratch to beat out the competition and get noticed. No amount
of 'magic' studio processing with that new "Super-maximizer-multi-zing-enhancer-2000"
will save a poor song!
Unfortunately,
it's difficult to be objective about your own music (and your mum
and best mate aren't
likely to be that helpful either!). That's where having a producer becomes essential.
As a producer,
Andrew recognises
that everyone has something they want to say through their music. He
understands that being producer isn't about taking over and
re-writing an artist's music. It's about constantly encouraging, challenging and
working with
artists to ensure their songs come across as powerfully as possible.
Opening up
your music to constructive criticism from any producer can be daunting, and you'll need an open attitude. Andrew will definitely want to hear your ideas - but he's not going to tell you your song's fantastic if its not. He
understands that you're better off knowing where your music needs improving before you record, rather than spending money on a song
that has little chance of gaining public interest.
Andrew
will always provide advice specific to your music, but if you'd like to
get a feel for Andrew's style, feel free to check out the Music Tips that
he regularly posts on the studio's MySpace site by clicking

Tips by clicking
